On Wednesday, Cedar Fair Entertainment and VRstudios announced the permanent installation of a free-roaming, multi-player VR experience at Knott's Berry Farm in Buena Park, California. This is the first of its kind at a theme park in the United States.
Located in Knott's Boardwalk Arcade, the attraction will be dubbed "VR Showdown in Ghost Town" and is scheduled to debut in April. The interactive virtual reality experience will take theme park guests on a time-travel adventure to a futuristic version of Knott's western town of Calico.
There, guests will be met by robotic creations and begin missions to defend the town with the help of fellow players. The attraction will combine virtual reality and competitive gaming, so players will use wireless virtual reality headsets and futuristic blasters to compete against one another for the highest score and bragging rights.
"We are always looking for new and exciting ways to entertain our guests," Cedar Fair's vice president Christian Dieckmann said in a statement. "By using a free-roaming system, we can take full advantage of the capabilities of VR and let our guests be the stars of the show. A majority of people have not yet experienced VR, and we anticipate there will be a lot of interest from guests to have their first taste at our park."

Entry into the "VR Showdown in Ghost Town" attraction will cost an introductory price of $6.00 in addition to the normal admission into Knott's Berry Farm.
