Entertainment Donald Wood November 10, 2017

During next week’s annual IAAPA Attractions Expo, the LEGOLAND Florida Resort will offer a sneak preview of one of its most anticipated new attractions, a virtual reality roller coaster for kids dubbed The Great LEGO Race.
On November 15 at the Orange County Convention Center, LEGOLAND officials will give visitors the opportunity to experience the 360-degree action with VR headsets as part of an exclusive demonstration.
The new The Great LEGO Race attraction will first debut at the LEGOLAND Malaysia Resort on November 22, and then at LEGOLAND Florida and Germany’s LEGOLAND Deutschland in spring 2018.
Developed with Merlin Entertainments, The Great LEGO Race will transform the existing Project X roller coasters into high-octane experiences. The ride will feature a lineup of popular LEGO minifigure racers that will square off against each other and an assortment of LEGO-built contraptions in a variety of different environments.

What makes the new The Great LEGO Race attraction so exciting is the use of VR headsets to give guests an immersive experience that allows them to see the action from every direction in an environment where everything is made of LEGO bricks.
During the ride, the VR headset technology will sync the virtual visuals created by Figment Productions with the Mack Rides roller coaster’s twists, turns, drops and climbs, creating an experience filled with thrills, spills, surprises and humor.
