Over a couple of days in a special part of the world, patrons will actually be encouraged to eat in IKEA beds.
The Wall Street Journal's Saabira Chaudhuri reports that the IKEA sitting comfortably in London's Shoreditch area will welcome those who wish to recline on Askvolls and Opplands while enjoying some breakfast.
Yes, the purveyor of the kind of competitively priced furniture that takes a day to build at home is throwing a pop-up breakfast-in-bed soiree.
Chaudhuri writes, "People can book a bed for a 45-minute slot 7 a.m. and noon to 'relax in a single or double bed where they will be served by specially trained waiting staff and sleep specialists,' IKEA said. Then, from noon to 3 p.m., the beds will be available for naps."
The height of luxury isn't expensive tours or lavish accommodations, it's being able to eat a meal comfortably, and then immediately lie down as digestion occurs.
This is the kind of sleep that includes snoring through one gigantic smile.
The report states that the menu will consist of "traditional Swedish breakfasts," and will also afford patrons the opportunity to pick their own pillow for post-meal bliss.
Contrary to all the snoozing, this event isn't affiliated with any shoppers in China who just decide to lie down and nap at any IKEA bed they happen to fall upon.
The report does remind that such unauthorized dozing off was actually banned in Beijing:
However in London from May 18 to 20 you can book a bed for free and eat where you might eventually sleep.
Now you might be wondering why someone would want to leave their home and opt to sleep in a building that features countless faux rooms like some sort of sci-fi hellish nightmare, which also contains myriad couples roaming about arguing about whether they have room for a new Hemnes.
But we don't want to quibble over what we just assume will be an extremely popular day at the IKEA in London.
