Prince William shocked many airplane passengers when he was spotted in economy class on May 4, during a domestic flight in the United States, following his friend Guy Pelly's wedding in Memphis, Tennessee.
The Duke of Cambridge, who was in America with Prince Harry, took the American Airlines flight from Memphis to Dallas, Texas on May 5.
U.S. television reporter Eli Ross, who was also on the flight, posted the image of Prince William on Twitter.
"#EXCLUSIVE PIC: I am still amazed #Prince William flies COACH. That's pretty humble/awesome. Who knew?" he tweeted, along with the photo (seen above).
Holding his own hand luggage, William, 31, boarded the plane separately from the rest of the passengers, surrounded by security guards.
On the plane, he took a window seat and allegedly ordered water during the domestic flight.
According to a report, William flew in economy class to save money.
The princes are generally accompanied round-the-clock by a team of approximately four taxpayer-funded officers.
According to the Daily Mail, one senior industry source estimated the cost of guarding the princes during their five-day trip would be in the region of $84,000, including business class flights and hotels for all of the officers.
Prince William reportedly changed planes at Dallas Fort Worth to return to the UK.
Meanwhile, Prince Harry reportedly chose EasyJet to make his way home to London.
When on official duties, the princes travel in first or business class along with their entourage.
