Where Can You Find Today's Luxury Travelers?

One of the questions I hear more than almost any other is, "Andrea, where do I find luxury travelers?" My answer always catches people by surprise because it's actually very simple: Fish where the fish are.

Too often, I watch travel advisors spend countless hours chasing leads, buying marketing lists, and hoping the perfect luxury client somehow finds them. The truth is, those clients are already out there—you simply have to start looking where they live, socialize, and spend their time.

Luxury travelers aren't hiding. They're members of country clubs, attending polo matches, driving luxury vehicles, shopping in upscale boutiques, enjoying wine tastings, supporting local charities, and yes, even playing pickleball. They value experiences, relationships, and exceptional service in every part of their lives, so it only makes sense that they'll seek those same qualities when planning their travels.

One of my favorite success stories came from an Opulence advisor who completely changed the way I think about finding clients. She was dropping off her dog at a luxury pet resort when she noticed something most people would have ignored. Around her were owners happily checking in their pets before heading off on vacation, many paying well over $1,000 just to board their dogs for the week.

She paused for a moment and thought, If someone is comfortable spending more than a thousand dollars on pet care while they're away, imagine what they're investing in the vacation itself.

She politely introduced herself to the owner and asked if she could leave a few business cards and a small flyer about her luxury travel services. The owner loved the idea.

Within weeks, she had new clients.

She didn't buy expensive advertising. She didn't purchase internet leads. She simply recognized an opportunity that had been sitting right in front of her.

That story has stayed with me because it perfectly illustrates what separates successful luxury advisors from everyone else. They pay attention. They look at everyday situations differently and begin connecting the dots that others never see.

Sometimes the best opportunities are even closer than you think. I often encourage advisors to take a good look at their own inner circle. Think about your friends, neighbors, fellow parents, business owners, attorneys, doctors, financial advisors, tennis partners, or members of your local social clubs. Listen closely to the conversations happening around you. You'll hear someone mention their dream safari to Africa, a milestone anniversary cruise through the Mediterranean, or finally checking Italy off their bucket list.

Those aren't just casual conversations—they're invitations to start a relationship.

Luxury clients aren't looking for another salesperson. They're looking for someone they trust, someone who understands the difference between booking a vacation and creating an unforgettable experience. More often than not, that trusted advisor is someone they already know.

Social media has opened another incredible door, but only if we stop treating it like a billboard. Today's luxury traveler isn't inspired by endless supplier promotions or generic travel specials. They're inspired by stories. Show them the breathtaking suite overlooking the ocean. Share a memorable dining experience. Let them see the people, the culture, and the moments that make luxury travel unforgettable. Whether it's Instagram or TikTok, your goal isn't to sell a vacation—it's to inspire someone to imagine themselves there.

After more than 26 years in this incredible industry, I've learned that building a luxury business isn't about finding hidden clients. It's about becoming visible where luxury clients already are. When you start looking at the world through that lens, opportunities begin appearing everywhere.

So the next time someone asks me where today's luxury travelers are, my answer will be exactly the same.

They're at the country club. They're shopping in boutiques. They're boarding their pets before a two-week European adventure. They're playing pickleball with friends. They're scrolling Instagram dreaming about their next escape. They may even be sitting across the dinner table from you.

You simply have to recognize them.

Because the best luxury clients aren't waiting to be found.

They're already living the lifestyle you want to become part of.

Just remember to fish where the fish are.
