Families looking for theme park fun will be happy to hear
about SeaWorld
San Diego’s recent announcement of a new kid-friendly play area, called “Rescue
Jr.”
Rescue Jr. will educate children about animal rescue and
rehabilitation through hands-on, active and engaging experiences. The renovated
portion of the park will replace the former Sesame Street Bay of Play at
SeaWorld.
“This first of its kind play area is another exciting
addition to our amazing educational theme park and puts marine animal rescue at
the forefront with our guests. Rescue Jr. is a fun and exciting way for our
younger guests to learn about the animal rescue that our dedicated teams do
every day, 365 days a year,” SeaWorld San Diego Park President Jim Lake said.
The play area will boast unique elements, including play
elements, a splash pad, water features, climbing structures and rides. Children
can also inspect rescue vehicles, take on an obstacle course, solve animal puzzles
and enjoy tips on how to help conservation.
Rescue
Jr. will also feature a ride called Rescue Rafter, which takes visitors on
a rescue boat ride that emulates the “swaying and spins that the waves produce
in the open ocean.”
“No matter how young, my hope is that all guests come away
with a better understanding of how important it is to be a part of protecting
the animals around us and maybe we can be the spark that ignites a passion in
kids to become animal rescuers, scientists, veterinarians or conservationists,”
Lake continued.
