Star Wars: The Experience, a 50th anniversary exhibition celebrating the beloved franchise, will premiere at The Franklin Institute in Philadelphia on February 13, 2027, with tickets going on sale this November.
The exhibition’s first renderings and new details were announced at San Diego Comic-Con this week. Running through September 6, 2027 at The Franklin Institute, the exhibit will then launch a five-year tour around North America.
“As we mark the incredible milestone of the 50th anniversary of Star Wars, we wanted to develop something truly extraordinary—a space that honors both the visionary pioneers who built this galaxy, and the remarkable fan community at its heart,” said Lynwen Brennan, Co-President of Lucasfilm. “'Star Wars: The Experience' is a testament to five decades of innovative storytelling, and we are excited for visitors to immerse themselves in the Star Wars legacy through this new exhibition.”

Star Wars: The Experience was developed by The Franklin Institute and Lucasfilm, Disney Consumer Products and MDSX. It traces the beginnings of the Star Wars movies, from hand-painted sets to sound design to fan art and more.
Visitors to the exhibit can wander through 18,000 square feet of galleries with interactive elements, with artifacts like Darth Vader’s costume and Darth Maul’s lightsaber, props from Andor and fan-favorite creature costumes.
Immersive parts of the exhibit include Queen Amidala’s Throne Room, featuring the galactic fashion icon’s red throne room gown; Wireframe Worlds, which showcases the blueprint stage of Star Wars set design, complete with a TIE fighter; and Carbon Freeze Capture, which features a full-scale carbonite Han Solo.
Along the way, guests of the exhibit will encounter the Force using RFID technology, with story elements, interactions and hidden moments unfolding throughout their exhibit journey.
The exhibit culminates with 50 Years of Star Wars, a look at the franchise’s action figure history and creation.
