The TravelPulse Podcast is back with an all-new episode this week.
The latest edition comes all the way from sunny Cancun, where travel expert Mark Murphy is talking to travelers and travel agents to document what's really going on in Mexico's popular tourist destinations.
Murphy details some of his most recent experiences south of the border and later warns of the perils of trusting online reviews from sites like TripAdvisor.
"Get your insider information from the insiders like the travel agents I ran into down here who are literally on location, going to properties and extensively inspecting them so they can validate with their own eyes, ears, and nose everything the property is known for," says Murphy.
"Based on that, they can come back and recommend in good conscience a property that they've physically seen and they can continue to get feedback from customers who continue to go."

Later, Murphy muses on some of the craziest news stories in travel, including a lion climbing into a safari vehicle in Crimea and an emergency landing prompted by illegal pepper spray before revealing why travelers should visit Hawaii in wake of Hurricane Lane.
"The pictures are bad and it looked terrible but the reality on the ground is that the vast majority of the properties there that cater to tourists are open for business and they're clamoring for your business," added Murphy.
"You can support a destination like Hawaii that's going through a tough time by getting back there and helping them financially and you're going to get a great deal. So you're going to be doing a good thing and experiencing a wonderful destination at the same time."
