It might be fast and it might be furious, but theme park executives at Universal Studios Hollywood say the new roller coaster based on the beloved Fast and Furious movie franchise won’t be too noisy.
That's far from the most exciting new detail revealed this week. The ride itself will feature vehicles that can rotate 360 degrees to be programmed away from population centers. Two trains, each holding up to 16 people, will run simultaneously.
Much to the delight of locals, officials at the theme park are addressing the concerns of nearby homeowners who were afraid that noise from the roller coaster would impact them.
Apparently, a sound wall the length of two football fields will be built to help prevent the sound pollution from becoming too overwhelming.
Presumably, that includes the screams of people enjoying the ride.
Universal said it would also limit the hours of construction on the new ride. Crews can now work Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. and from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.
In addition, the track will be filled with pea gravel, which is said to help keep the sound down.
This will be the second outdoor roller coaster at Universal Studios Hollywood. The new Fast and Furious coaster was officially announced in July, but it is unknown when it will open for business.
Universal Studios Hollywood said it would begin its holiday programming on November 24.
