Exploring cuisine is a lifelong affair as there's always more to discover and taste. While there's endless options for your next meal, here are a few dishes to add to your culinary bucket list.
Bacon Flight
Hidden on the bar menu at PRESS in Napa Valley is a glorious bacon tasting. For $22 you can sample your way through a variety of flavors including Candied Hobbs from California and Benton's from Tennessee. It's a pork extravaganza that can't be missed and should be washed down with a nice glass of cabernet sauvignon.
Earth's Best Cookies
These heavenly cookies from Gideon's Bakehouse in Orlando are the best combination of dough, sugar and eggs that you'll find on this planet. Their triple chocolate cookie is crafted with different chocolate chips, cacao and chocolate ganache all blended together for the perfect explosion of sweetness. Soft, but not doughy throughout, every cookie flavor from Gideon's is divine.
A Bahhston Classic
Established in 1925, James Hook & Co. is no stranger to exceptional lobster. Lobster rolls in Boston are as common as bagels in New York, but this converted trailer by the water is serving up one of the best versions in town. Succulent is lobster wedged between a perfectly toasted bun, it's nothing fancy, just over-the-top tasty. A must visit the next time you're in Beantown.
100 Layers
It takes four days to make a 100 layer donut at Five Daughters bakery in Nashville. These made-with-care donuts are all handled individually, which shines through in every bite. Light and appropriately dense all at once, these circles of glory are remarkable.
Go Dawgs
There's more to Athens, Ga. than football and booze. At Last Resort Grill they've been serving up Southern fare long before it was trendy. A classic and beloved menu item, Last Resort's Praline dish with plump chicken breasts stuffed with a medley of cheeses and then topped with walnut-honey drizzle is all served over creamy grits. It's an experience that will leave your taste buds craving this sweet and savory piece of poultry.
"I'm lovin' it"
After a day of hitting the slopes, carbs are always in order. Venture down the mountain to Secret Stash in Mt. Crested Butte, Colorado for the Mac Daddy pizza. Loaded with Thousand Island dressing, mozzarella, shaved ribeye, pickles and a host of other toppings, this pie rests on a sesame seed crust. Just like its cousin "Mac", this pie is "Big" on flavor and creativity. Pair with the Stash's Crack Fries which are tossed in parmesan and white truffle oil for the ultimate carb-loading experience.
From family bakeries to fine dining experiences, the world of flavor is thrilling to explore.
