You are either on this list or have experienced a close encounter with someone who has. In either case, Expedia's new survey illustrates the most annoying aspect of aviation travel: The Passengers.

Expedia recently released a bit of holiday tradition, unveiling its grand Airplane Etiquette Study for the third year in a row.

The study, which breaks down the absolute worst airplane offenders, utilizes "1,019 interviews of randomly selected U.S. adult residents, conducted between August 7-9, 2015."

The top ten this year is a veritable cavalcade of awful seat kickers and stinky travelers. Here is how the upper echelon of airline annoyances broke down:

  1. Rear Seat Kicker(cited by 61% of study respondents)
  2. Inattentive Parents(59%)
  3. The Aromatic Passenger(50%)
  4. The Audio Insensitive (talking or music)(50%)
  5. The Boozer(45%)
  6. Chatty Cathy(43%)
  7. Carry-On Baggage Offenders(38%)
  8. The Queue Jumper (rushes to deplane)(35%)
  9. Seat-Back Guy (the seat recliner)(32%)
  10. Overhead Bin Inconsiderate (stows bag in first available spot, rather than nearest to his/her seat)(32%)

The rest of the list can be seen at the website, and it includes people who dare munch on stinky foods while in an enclosed area and those fun people who like to mix in the seat kicking with the seat grabbing.

Alas, you people who enjoy public displays of affection are being monitored by the watchful eyes of fellow passengers who have had about enough.

As for how these things are addressed, it seems most of us like to go the passive aggressive route. "In the event a fellow passenger misbehaved noticeably, 49% of Americans would sit quietly and attempt to ignore them. 21% would confront the offender directly, while 10% would surreptitiously record them using their phone's camera or video. 3% of Americans would publish that misbehavior across social media channels."

So the moral of the story is to be kind to one another, sit in your seat, avoid kicking the chair in front of you and perhaps mix in a shower for good measure.
