Have you ever gone on a trip only to find that you need a vacation from your vacation? It's a more common problem than many people think.
Travel can be very stressful-and for very different reasons. Some people worry about things they have forgotten at home, some struggle to keep up with all of the activities they planned and some travelers spend their break worrying about everything that is piling up at work or at home while they are away.
Porch polled more than 1,000 people to find out what their regrets were while on vacation and found that the biggest disappointment was something completely out of anyone's control: the weather.
One in four respondents to the poll regretted experiencing bad weather on a trip.
Other common regrets included not having enough spending money, forgetting to bring an essential item and travel companions that were not compatible and didn't want to do the same activities. Each of these regrets was experienced by one in five respondents.
Once travelers have flown the coop, however, they don't regret their spending very much. More than 56 percent of people said they had no regrets about how much money they spent on vacation, and just 10 percent of those polled said that they regretted a purchase while on the road.
One of the most expensive purchases on a trip was transportation, costing approximately $1,229. However, despite the cost of actual travel, it was one of the least regretted costs. Just 1.9 percent of people regretted the purchase.
What they do regret is spending excessively on things like eating out and souvenirs. More than 12 percent of travelers reported regretting splurging on dining out and nearly 10 percent regretted a souvenir purchase.
While travelers don't find taking a hit to the pocketbook regrettable, many wish that they didn't spend so much time on vacation worrying about what's happening at home. Top concerns include locking the house, the care of animals while away and whether or not the house alarm is set.
So where do travelers feel relaxed? The most satisfying and rejuvenating experiences according to those surveyed include cruises, all-inclusive resort stays and international travel in general.
