WHY IT RATES: The survey takes the pulse of the industry's fee structure and how agents are using service and consultation fees. -Janeen Christoff, TravelPulse Senior Writer
Host Agency Reviews recently launched its third annual Fee Survey. The fee survey garners comprehensive data on service fees and consultation fees among primarily home-based and independent travel advisors. While independent travel advisors are a challenging sector of the travel industry to segment, the fee survey provides keen insights into their fee-charging practices.
Last year, over 700 agents responded to the survey, providing crucial and concrete data on the breakdown of fee structures: comparing fees according to niche, region, years of experience, and gender. Furthermore, the survey will home in on specific fee-charging practices, offering data on how much agents charge for specific booking and planning services as well as understanding why some advisors choose not to charge fees.
In order to encourage participation this year, Host Agency Reviews will award eight participating agents with a $25 gift card via a random drawing.
According to Host Agency Reviews' founder, Stephanie Lee, "Our annual survey helps take a pulse on the state of fees in the agent community. Participating helps the larger agency ecosystem by giving hard numbers on the percentage of agents charging fees, as well as what those fee structures look like."
The fee survey is currently live and will be available to advisors through December 22, 2018. This year, Host Agency Reviews hopes to increase participation among advisors in order to discern ongoing trends in fee structures.
