With only 25 thatched houses known as bures, the <a href="http://www.fijiresort.com/">Jean-Michel Cousteau Resort</a> overlooking Savusavu Bay offers ocean-side dining, three swimming pools, rainforest hikes, kayaking, sailing tradition Fijian weaving, yoga, and other activities. Damaged by tropical cyclone Winston in February 2016, the resort underwent refurbishment to refresh rooms and suites, expand the pier and update swimming pools, and had a grand reopening on Sept. 1.</p><p>In addition to the refresh, the hotel now offers a newly dedicated spa, featuring treatments taking advantage of local healing traditions and botanicals such as pressed coconut oil, masi, cacao, honey, and wild mint, purchased from local villages.</p><p>While the hotel is not offering a specific election package, it's notable that Fiji is both remote and convenient to several U.S. gateways, with nonstop service from Los Angeles, San Francisco, and Honolulu. Rates start from $840 per night for single or $1,170 per night for double occupancy with a three-night minimum stay (five after Nov. 1) and includes airport meet and greet and vehicle transfer from Savusavu Airport, all meals and non-alcoholic beverages, resort activities and water equipment, evening entertainment, kids programs and taxes.</p>
