Christian Louboutin is going beyond his famous red-soled stilettos and diving into the hospitality industry with his very own hotel and restaurant.
The world-famous designer will be opening his hotel in 2020 in the Alentejo region of Portugal, an area where he has his own holiday home. Alentejo is a lesser-explored area in Portugal but offers some of Europe's best beaches and charming, historical villages.
"Simple outside; impactful inside," is how Louboutin described his hotel and restaurant on Wednesday, reported Tatler.
Louboutin has already begun the process of designing the property.
He said, "I'm buying furniture for it, I'm collecting ceramics, I'm buying aboriginal art that I would like to put in there. The rooms will be an eclectic mix, 'all different. Some in the village of Melides and others by the sea."
Architect Madalena Caido is working with Louboutin on the hotel design which will be inspired by Portugal's rural architecture of the area. The exterior will feel local, while the inside will feature Louboutin's designer genius.
In terms of the restaurant that will accompany the hotel, Louboutin plans for it to serve in-season, organic cuisine with a focus on fish and local cheese.
The hotel will begin construction in April and has plans to open next summer.
