Rumors have circulated for months about a new gondola lift system at Walt Disney World, but a report obtained from the Disney-controlled Reedy Creek Improvement District reportedly confirmed the planned project.
According to the Orlando Sentinel, the documents show the gondola lift system will include six stations with three lines that link Hollywood Studios, Epcot, the Caribbean Beach Resort and a lakeside area between the Pop Century and Art of Animation resorts.
The report also indicates the ride will be developed by European manufacturer Doppelmayr and each gondola cab will be able to hold 10 passengers.
While Disney has worked to keep the project a secret, the Orlando Sentinel confirmed rumors which have circulated for months. Disney has since released a statement.
"We are always looking to explore new transportation options that will make the resort experience even more magical for guests," a spokesperson for Disney said. "We're excited about our future plans on this front and look forward to sharing details at a later date."

The new gondola ride will be an upgraded and improved version of the Disney Skyway ride that closed in 1999. The former transportation system connected Magic Kingdom's Fantasyland and Tomorrowland, but was shut down after an employee was killed in an accident involving a gondola.
The plans for the new gondola system were uncovered amid a period of expansion for the Walt Disney World theme park. Not only are officials working on the new form of transportation at the facility, but they are also adding a Star Wars land at Hollywood Studios and a Toy Story area.
There are also changes coming to Epcot, but no details have been announced yet.
