While significant portions of the Caribbean were impacted by hurricanes in late 2017, Grenada managed to escape the storms' wrath.
The cluster of islands that make up this alluring destination includes Grenada, Carriacou and Petite Martinique, all of which are located in the southernmost part of the Caribbean, not far from St Vincent.
It's an enviable location in the dead of winter when much of the United States is laboring under frigid temperatures and mountains of snow.
In addition to warm weather, Grenada offers hiking, diving, an underwater sculpture park and silky stretches of white sand. The capital, St. George's is made up of numerous colorful homes and Georgian buildings that you can spend days exploring.
All of which likely sounds pretty perfect right about now.
For those considering an escape from the snow drifts, here are some of Grenada's top luxury hotels to consider in 2018, according to Forbes.
Spice Island Beach Resort
One of the most notable things about this property is that it is the first (and only) AAA Five-Diamond resort in Grenada. It's also a member of the Small Luxury Hotels of the World collection.
As for what to expect when visiting Spice Island Beach Resort, amenities include many suites that feature their own private pool, numerous beachfront restaurants and a full-service spa. Yes, please!
Calabash Luxury Boutique Hotel
Luxury hotel aficionados will appreciate the fact that this hotel is the fifth in the Caribbean to receive the elite Relais & Chateaux honor. The property offers 30 suites and five estate homes spread throughout acres of gardens along the L'anse Aux Epines beach.
There are also two restaurants and a spa where visitors can indulge in holistic treatments and restorative yoga.
Silversands Grenada
A new property slated to open in March, Silversands Grenada describes itself as the antidote to faceless, homogenous luxury. To that end, the resort feature 43 suites and nine residential villas spread along a beach and hillside.
Another feature worth noting: The property is home to the longest infinity swimming pool in the Caribbean.
Those who purchase one of the residential villas, as well as hotel guests, also have access to two restaurants and a spa. The property is part of the Leading Hotels of the World.
