What should a city do when it already holds the world record for the tallest hotel on earth? Build a taller property, of course.
Dubai is getting set to welcome its newest record-breaking project, the Gevora Hotel, which at 356 meters (1,168 feet), will be the world's tallest hotel when it opens on February 12. While the hotel is just shy of opening to the public, Guinness World Records has already recognized the property as the world's tallest.
Incidentally, the property is located just up the road from the JW Marriott Marquis Hotel Dubai, the current record-holder, and is also adjacent to the 333-meter Rose Rayhaan by Rotana, which also once held the same record.
While the 75-story Gevora wrestles the title away from the JW Marriott with barely a meter to spare, it will feature four additional floors than that of the 71-story Marriott.
The 528-room Gevora will include 232 deluxe rooms, 265 one-bedroom deluxe rooms and 31 two-bedroom suites. Each room will come equipped with a built-in kitchenette, high-speed internet, interactive television and premium amenities
The new hotel comes equipped with several on-site eateries, including a deluxe restaurant with sweeping views of Dubai on the building's top floor. Also on site are an open-air pool deck and a luxury spa, health center and fitness club.
While the hotel purports to be opening on Monday, February 12, the Gevora website is still under construction. (As of press time, a count-down timer announced the website would open in 16 days.) For now, it appears that sending a message through the Facebook page is the best way to connect with property.
