Orlando, Florida may be considered the Theme Park Capital of the World, but the destination will soon be known as Margaritaville to Parrotheads.

This week, Margaritaville Resort Orlando revealed the first renderings of the $750 million resort.

The project still has a long way to go with construction just recently getting underway, but the first phase of the destination resort is scheduled to open by the end of 2017.

Upon completion, highlights of the massive resort will include a 175-room hotel, 1,000 Margaritaville-themed vacation homes, 300 timeshare units, 30,000 square-feet of function space, 200,000 square feet of retail space, a dining and entertainment district, a 12-acre water park and a wellness center.

The resort will also boast several miles of fitness trails and a water taxi system.

However the resort's three-acre swimmable freshwater lagoon will truly set it apart from any other accommodation.

In addition to the only natural sand beaches in Central Florida, the lagoon will be equipped with cabanas and serve as the setting for a handful of water activities, including snorkeling and paddle-boarding.

While travelers will have to wait some time before they can experience the lagoon and other amenities, Margaritaville Resort Orlando plans to reveal additional details regarding the property in the coming weeks.

The company's sales center will also open in the coming days.

Margaritaville Grand Cayman Beach Resort

The first renderings of Margaritaville Resort Orlando were accompanied by the initial renderings of Margaritaville Grand Cayman Beach Resort, a 285-room beachfront property set to open on Seven Mile Beach by the end of the year.

Scheduled to open this coming December, the resort will feature an open-air lobby complete with a License to Chill bar, among other amenities.

The resort's two-pool layout will include a tranquility pool and an activity pool. In addition to dining and other function space, the resort will house a gym, spa and 1,500 square feet of retail space.

Dining options will include a Margaritaville Coffee Shop, the Banana Wind Cafe and the resort's signature restaurant, YARA.

The company plans to reveal additional details pertaining to the amenities later this summer.
