Fairmont
Hotels & Resorts, part of the Accor
portfolio, is expanding its footprint in the United
Kingdom with the debut of its first property in Northwest England.
Reservations are
now open for Fairmont
Cheshire, The Mere, which is set to welcome its first guests on July 10,
2026. The new luxury countryside retreat joins the brand's growing U.K.
portfolio alongside The Savoy, A Fairmont Hotel, Fairmont Windsor Park and
Fairmont St Andrews.

Located on a
157-acre estate overlooking The Mere Lake in the Cheshire countryside, the
newly transformed resort aims to blend upscale accommodations, wellness
offerings, world-class golf and distinctive dining in a picturesque rural
setting.
Guests can book
one of 116 guestrooms, including 23 suites, and enjoy a range of amenities and
experiences across the property. Highlights include gourmet dining at Gordon
Ramsay at The Mere, afternoon tea and champagne service at The Orangery,
British and Indian cuisine at The Club Lounge, a full-service Fairmont Spa and
an 18-hole championship golf course.

The adaptation of
this celebrated landmark address into a Fairmont-branded resort represents a
whole new chapter in its age-old history. Recorded in the Domesday Book of
1086, the property has served as both a leisure estate and private club over
the centuries. Now reimagined as a luxury hotel, the Fairmont Cheshire, The
Mere blends its longstanding heritage with modern amenities, while preserving
the character that has made it a beloved local landmark. Upon opening, the property
is expected to serve as a vibrant social hub, introducing elevated travel and lifestyle
offerings for both locals and visitors alike.
"Fairmont
Cheshire, The Mere offers a countryside sanctuary designed for pause and
restoration within beautifully appointed surrounds. Guests can indulge in pure
serenity at the calming spa, which draws inspiration from the lake, savor
celebratory moments in the refined Club Lounge after a round of golf, and
experience world-class, British and international cuisine at Gordon Ramsay at
The Mere, all within a quintessentially British rural setting. At Fairmont, we
like to 'Make Special Happen,' and we cannot wait to bring this celebratory
sentiment to Cheshire," said Claudia Kozma Kaplan, Chief Brand Officer,
Fairmont Hotels & Resorts.

The hotel’s upcoming
opening follows a £35 million (roughly $47 million) acquisition of the property
by Select Group, which invested an additional £90 million (approximately $121
million) into its extensive renovation and rebranding.
"Fairmont
Cheshire, The Mere represents a defining milestone for Select Group. It is the realization
of a vision we committed to when we first acquired this exceptional property.
Our ambition from the outset was to create something that would set a new
standard for luxury hospitality in the Northwest of England, and partnering
with Fairmont, one of the world's most iconic luxury hotel brands, has allowed
us to do exactly that," commented Israr Liaqat, Group Chief Executive
Officer, Select Group.
"Fairmont
Cheshire The Mere is a place defined by its setting — the lake, the
fairways and the sense of space that surrounds it, all of which create a
natural feeling of ease and connection," said Gary Johnson, General
Manager, Fairmont Cheshire, The Mere. "We look forward to welcoming guests
into this new chapter of the estate, whether they are here for dining, golf or
wellbeing, and to see the hotel once again become a place for great company,
meaningful occasions and a life well lived."
