Margaritaville and Karisma Hotels & Resorts in partnership with Island Shipping, S. de R.L. are celebrating the groundbreaking of the upcoming Margaritaville Island Reserve Resort Roatán in Honduras.

Dignitaries, local officials and key stakeholders gathered to mark the start of construction on the all-inclusive resort, which is set to open in fall of 2027.

The new property is expected to create 400 permanent resort jobs, along with an additional 400 indirect jobs, including construction and hospitality, for the local Roatán economy.

Margaritaville Island Reserve Resort Roatán will be the third property in Margaritaville’s all-inclusive collection managed by Karisma. The family-friendly resort will feature 170 guest rooms, including oceanfront suites and swim-up honeymoon accommodations.

Amenities include the St. Somewhere Spa, “Fins Up!” Fitness Center, Parakeets Kid's Club, multiple pools, pickleball courts, and meeting space.

With a capacity of 800 guests and a covered stage for concerts, The Margaritaville Beach Club will also make Roatán the hub for large-scale events and music festivals.

Dining venues at the forthcoming resort will include Frank & Lola’s Italian Trattoria, JWB Steakhouse, The Boathouse Market Dining, and Cheeseburger in Paradise. The resort will also be home to the region’s first LandShark Brewery, where visitors can have an exclusive craft beer experience.

Margaritaville CEO John Cohlan and Karisma Hotels & Resorts CEO Esteban Velasquez spoke at the event about the project's impact on the community.

"Beyond creating a world-class resort, this project will offer immersive experiences, boost Roatan’s global appeal, and enhance the island’s infrastructure. With efforts like native vegetation planting, we’re fostering long-term prosperity for the community and the environment,” said Velasquez.
