Marriott International is looking to step up its in-room entertainment and technology offerings for guests worldwide, signing a new long-term partnership with LG Electronics that will begin with a new cloud platform.
Marriott’s new guest cloud platform will be co-developed with LG, transforming in-room TVs from a single entertainment device into a hub of hotel content, room functions and entertainment offerings, including 250 channels, over 40 apps and streaming capabilities.
The cloud-based system will also help Marriott monitor device health across properties, brands and property portfolios.
“Our collaboration with LG reflects Marriott’s commitment to building technology that elevates the guest experience across our portfolio,” said Drew Pinto, Marriott International’s Executive Vice President and Chief Revenue and Technology Officer.
“By combining LG’s connected-device capabilities with Marriott’s hospitality expertise and enterprise platform, we are creating a more seamless, personalized guest room experience while helping hotel teams operate more efficiently,” continued Pinto. “This work is an important step toward building a smarter technology ecosystem that evolves alongside the needs of our guests.”
A pilot will run across 40 hotels and resorts across the United States and Canada before expanding to Marriott’s global hotel portfolio.
