According to a recent American Express trend report, 60 percent of consumers are looking to book a wellness-focused trip, and over 75 percent would like to spend more on travel for well-being. As the pandemic continues to drive interest in health and wellness, Hacienda Encantada Resort & Residences has unveiled new wellness features just in time for 2022 travels.
An important Mayan practice, the temazcal is a traditional sweat lodge used for cleansing rituals and its health and therapeutic benefits. The darkness and warmth of a temazcal represent the womb of Mother Earth. Today, Hacienda Encantada guests can experience this ancient ceremony right on site at the hotel's new temazcal. During this hour-long ceremony, a temazcalero, or shaman, leads guests through the power of the four elements - water, fire, air and earth - to purify the mind, body and spirit. The temazcalero uses music, steam and herbs to transport guests through a sensorial, visceral experience, where participants emerge feeling inspired and transformed.
Guests can book the temazcal, held Fridays at 4 p.m. local time, at $65 USD per person. The resort also offers the Hacienda Mexican Ritual package, a 120-minute service offering the temazcal experience and a full-body relaxing massage, at $187 USD per person.
"At Mexico Grand Hotels, we've found guests are increasingly seeking out wellness activities, and they're especially interested in authentic Mexican experiences. We aim to integrate wellness into the resort, just as it is ingrained in Mexican culture" said Gabriel Ibarra Macias, director of sales and marketing at Mexico Grand Hotels.
The hotel's fitness center has also been renovated and expanded with new equipment. Guests will find newly added machines from Technogym encompassing the latest technology and workout trends, like a Skillrow rowing machine and Excite Live Synchro elliptical. At Hacienda Encantada's adjacent sister resort, Vista Encantada Spa Resort & Residences, guests will now receive complimentary access to Milagro Wellness Spa. For a limited time, all guests booking a stay through June 30 will have complimentary spa access to inspire self-care during their stay.
