St. Lucia luxury resort Anse Chastanet is offering its dive enthusiast guests opportunities to attain certification this summer as Professional Association of Dive Instructors (PADI) Open Water Scuba trainers via Scuba St. Lucia, the resort's in-house dive shop.
Scuba St. Lucia is now offering PADI Open Water Scuba instructors-in-training the education and course work required to secure certification while staying at the 600-acre resort estate, said Karolin Troubetzkoy, Anse Chastanet's executive director of marketing and operations.
"Offering this leading instructor training program in the recreational dive industry is about changing lives," said Troubetzkoy, who added that participants create "long-lasting friendships and bonds" while gaining certification.
Successful participants have the options to conduct a range of scuba classes and programs, and to become further certified in their field of expertise and explore international job opportunities, she added. Scuba St. Lucia offers divers a scenic, ecologically diverse dive spot near Anse Chastanet's shoreline in the Soufrière Marine Management Area marine park.
Course prerequisites include certification as a PADI Dive master or comparable certification; medical statement of physical fitness from a diving medical examination within the last 12 months; Open Water Diver certification for at least six months and a record of 60 logged dives to begin the Instructor Development Course and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and first-aid training within the past 24 months.
One hundred logged dives are required prior to the instructor exam.
Anse Chastanet's PADI Instructor Development Course at Scuba St. Lucia is available from August 25 to September 4, 2019, with special accommodation rates for participants.
"This is a career and recreational opportunity that does not only enhance one's resume but also gives course graduates a wealth of skills they can convey to other students at dive shops," said Troubetzkoy.
