The Gwen, a Luxury Collection Hotel, Chicago debuted on Tuesday, replacing the former Conrad Chicago in the historic McGraw-Hill building.
Owned by DiamondRock Hospitality Company and managed by Crescent Hotels & Resorts, the Gwen is the first hotel in Chicago to be included in Starwood Hotels & Resorts' The Luxury Collection brand.
Located in a rare landmark building featuring Art Deco architecture, the Gwen takes after Gwen Lux-a Chicago-born sculptress and pioneer-and honors "the grandeur and glamour of the Chicago in the 1930s," according to a release.
"We are delighted to debut The Luxury Collection in Chicago in this ideal downtown location, as we continue to seek out opportunities to grow the brand in premium markets around the world," said Hoyt H. Harper II, global brand leader of The Luxury Collection Hotels & Resorts. "This hotel will deliver impeccable service and modern sophistication to the new generation of luxury travelers near the Windy City's best shopping, dining and attractions."
The luxury property, located in downtown Chicago with direct access to upscale boutiques along the Magnificent Mile shopping district, focuses on personalized service, while also adding a Prohibition Porter mixologist, an Artist's Table dining experience and terraces that look out on the Chicago skyline.
