The State of Hotel Guest Satisfaction in 2024

The 28th annual J.D. Power 2024 North America Hotel Guest Satisfaction Index (NAGSI) Study found that guests who stay at luxury and upper upscale hotels are the most satisfied hotel guests of the year.

Higher hotel rates for lower segments are main reasons why travelers aren’t as satisfied with lower segment hotels; they aren’t getting as much for their money, whereas luxury and upper upscale travelers feel like they are.

IHG Hotels & Resorts Launches Industry-First Low Carbon Pioneers Program

IHG Hotels & Resorts has begun the first program of its kind, collecting low-carbon hotels together under one program, called the Low Carbon Pioneers Program. Each of the properties within the portfolio offers LEED certification, Green Key certification or an equivalent to ensure that the property produces low levels of carbon emissions.

The hotels within this portfolio include Holiday Inn Express Madrid Airport and Iberostar Waves Cristina in Spain and the newly opened Kimpton BEM Budapest in Hungary.

To celebrate the year anniversary, the Confidant Collective platform is getting some upgrades, with expanded resources and booking support, functionality improvements and dedicated sections for specific niche and group specialty support.

Hotel Industry Adds 700 Jobs In June

A new report by the American Hotel & Lodging Association found that the hospitality industry in America added 700 new jobs in the month of June. Despite record-high benefits and wages, it’s still far under the 200,000-some still needed in hotels across the nation.

As it has advocated previously, the AHLA recommends the government expand the H-2B temporary nonagricultural worker visa program to help support the hospitality industry.

Hotels in Europe Surpassing RevPAR Expectations is Good News for Travel Industry

New data from Accor, the largest hotel group in Europe, predicts that RevPAR, or revenue per available room, is expected to increase 4-5 percent this year, faster than previous predictions.

Despite economic uncertainty, travelers, especially those enjoying luxury and lifestyle hotels, continue to travel and bolster the region—and the hotel company as a whole.
