The Trump Hotel Collection is reportedly investigating another potential payment card data breach.
Citing multiple sources in the financial sector, KrebsonSecurity reported that a pattern of fraud on customer credit cards used at Trump properties has been uncovered.
"We are in the midst of a thorough investigation on this matter," a Trump Hotels representative told KrebsonSecurity in a written statement. "We are committed to safeguarding all guests' personal information and will continue to do so vigilantly."
The Trump Hotel Collection comprises more than a dozen luxury properties around the world, but it's unclear whether some or all have been affected.
If the breach is ultimately confirmed, it would signal the second security lapse in less than a year.
In October 2015, Trump Hotels issued a security breach warning to guests who used their credit or debit cards at a handful of properties over a 13-month period from May 2014 to June 2015.
While the breach will undoubtedly cast the Trump Hotel Collection in a negative light if it's found to be legitimate, it will also serve as yet another warning to the hotel industry at large.
After all, major hotel chains including Hilton Worldwide, Hyatt Hotels and Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide have been victimized by card-stealing malware within the past year.
