A Ferris wheel at a new amusement park in Thailand caught fire Saturday, but no passengers were onboard the ride at the time of the incident and no injuries have been reported.
According to FoxNews.com, the Ferris wheel at the Dinosaur Planet theme park in Bangkok, Thailand-dubbed The Dino Eye-caught fire following a thunderstorm.
Officials from the fire and rescue department of the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration are investigating the incident, but initial reports suggest it was an electrical short-circuit which may have caused the fire.
"At the time of the incident, no one was on the Ferris wheel," Dinosaur Planet officials said in a statement. "As standard protocol, we stopped all operations of the Dino Eye before the rain, which is one of our safety measures for Dinosaur Planet."
The Dino Eye is one of the top attractions at the Dinosaur Planet theme park, and the structure measures five stories tall. Local media outlets showing videos of the fire breaking out on one of the ride's pods also reported that guests inside the park at the time evacuated the facility while emergency crews handled the situation.
Dinosaur Planet officially opened March 25, and has become a popular attraction with residents and tourists. The official Twitter of AsiaOne shared an image of the Ferris wheel fire:
