Officials at the Silver Dollar City theme park were happy to learn Wednesday that the 10-year-old girl who was taken to the hospital after she hurt her neck on a ride in the park is doing well after the incident.
In a report from Paula Morehouse of KY3.com, the young girl was on the Outlaw Run roller coaster, and when she walked away from the ride, she complained to her father that she was suffering from neck pain.
At around 5:40 p.m. local time, Silver Dollar City Safety and Security Division EMTs arrived at the area to examine the child, and she was put in a medical neck collar as a precautionary measure.
The little girl was then taken to a nearby hospital where she underwent a CAT scan that indicated everything looked normal. The child's father told KY3.com that besides a headache and sore neck, she is doing well.
While the family wanted to keep their names out of the report, they were from Southwest Missouri and have season passes to Silver Dollar City. Despite the injury to his daughter, the father claims they will return to the theme park again.
Outlaw Run is a popular roller coaster that was built in 2013. The wooden coaster stands at 107 feet high and reaches a maximum speed of 68 miles per hour. The ride is rough, though, as the trains are flipped upside down three times.
