Travelers planning to stay at Sandals Royal Bahamian & Spa Resort & Offshore Island are venting their frustrations on social media about a possible temporary closure of the resort.

‎Allie Murphy of Westland, Mich., posted the following on Aug. 2 on‎ Facebook: "My fiancé and I booked our honeymoon through their royal Bahamian resort for August 27th-September 2nd of this yea back in the winter. Our wedding is the 26th of August. We are 25 days away and they decided to let us know we cannot have our honeymoon at that resort."

According to The Bahama Journal, the resort will close temporarily, beginning Aug. 15.

The Journal reported on Aug. 3 that the resort was summoned to court for not recognizing the Bahamas Hotel Maintenance and Allied Workers Union as the union representatives for resort employees.

Gary Sadler, senior vice president of sales for Unique Vacations, a subsidiary of Sandals Resorts, wrote in a letter to customers that the resort would be closed through Oct. 13, the Journal said.

"We appreciate your patience as we work through this difficult time," Sadler said in the letter obtained by The Journal. "We have instituted a streamlined and efficient course of action for those guests who may be affected and are extended all of our call center resources to you, including a 24-hour hotline."

But according to the news network Tribune 242, Sandals Royal Bahamian Resort senior executives will not comment on the matter.

Labour Director Robert Farquharson told the Tribune that he could not confirm the reports were true.

Elle Andress, social media manager for Sandals and Beaches, posted on the Sandals Royal Bahamian Fans Official Facebook page on July 30 that there had been some confusion about the situation at the Bahamian.

"Due to an unexpected maintenance issue we have taken the precaution to close certain rooms at Sandals Royal Bahamian as we don't want to take a chance to disrupt your vacation experience," Andress posted on the Facebook page. "If your room is one of the affected rooms we will be reaching out to you personally. None of the services/facilities/features will be affected during this time. At this time, the entire resort will not be closed, and the maintenance will only affect certain rooms."
