Passengers on an Air Canada flight last month were horrified
when they began hearing screams and banging from below the cabin as the plane
prepared for takeoff.
According to FoxNews.com,
Air Canada Flight 1502 was preparing to take off from Toronto Pearson Airport en
route to Moncton, New Brunswick, on December 13 when a ground crew member
became trapped inside the plane’s cargo hold.
The employee was loading the cargo hold of the Airbus plane
when the doors “inadvertently closed” behind him. The ground crew member
started screaming and banging on the walls, prompting several of the 184
passengers on board to alert the flight attendants.
As the plane began taxiing toward the runway, the pilots
were notified of the issue and immediately stopped the aircraft. Ground crew
members quickly opened the cargo hold, helped the affected employee out, and
showed the plane's passengers he was unhurt.
Air Canada confirmed the crew member was not injured during
the incident, but the plane was forced to return to the terminal, and
passengers were disembarked.
The flight was eventually canceled, and passengers were
rebooked on later flights.
