A Southwest Airlines flight was forced to make an emergency landing in Atlanta on Friday night due to what the carrier called a “possible security matter.”
According to Fox
5 Atlanta, Southwest Flight 2094 was en route from Nashville International Airport to Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport when the flight crew called for an emergency landing at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport at 9:06
p.m. local time.
Once the Southwest plane landed safely in Atlanta, an armed team from the Atlanta Police Department boarded the aircraft and removed a passenger.

In response, Southwest released a statement to Fox News regarding the incident:
“Southwest Airlines Flight 2094 landed safely at
Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport Friday evening after diverting
to respond to a possible security matter. We appreciate the professionalism of
our flight crew and apologize to our customers for the delay.”
“Nothing is more important to Southwest than the safety
of its customers and employees.”
