Popular travel search engine, KAYAK, launches a new suite of AI-powered digital tools for travelers March 5, including a patent-pending price comparison tool and a more sophisticated chatbot allowing travelers to find quick answers to their most pressing travel questions.
KAYAK PriceCheck is a new patent-pending price comparison tool, available on KAYAK’s app. Users can upload a screenshot of a flight itinerary from any website and KAYAK will quickly check hundreds of sites to compare prices on similar flights.
Also launching is Ask KAYAK, the new chat box that will appear in the results page. Users can input their specific hotel, car or flight requirements, as well as price limitations, and quickly receive results that match their criteria. Ask KAYAK is available today for all users in the U.S., U.K. and Canada, with more markets in the coming months.
“With today’s launch of KAYAK PriceCheck, we’re the only leading metasearch brand letting users compare prices using only a screenshot,” said Matthias Keller, Chief Scientist & SVP of Technology at KAYAK. “We’re diving deeper into solving complex travel issues more quickly and simply with the launch of Ask KAYAK,” said Keller. "The addition of free form search to apply filters makes it easy for travelers to get personalized results for their next trip."
Other new improvements include Quality Provider Scores, which rates Online Travel Agencies (OTAs) based upon factors like price accuracy, customer service and more. KAYAK Trips now offers live updates, keeping travel plans in one place and updating accordingly during your trips.
The World Travel & Tourism Council predicts that artificial intelligence will revolutionize travel, particularly in enhancing customer service, marketing strategies, providing personalized travel recommendations and more. Delta Air Lines, Priceline and Cruise Planners are only a few major travel industry companies dabbling to discover the ways AI can most benefit them.
