And, no, not at a chain restaurant.

Welsh cakes: When in Wales do as the Welsh do and they eat a lot of Welsh cakes. As a matter of fact, The Village Bakery in north Wales makes 15 million of them every year in its craft bakery to feed the cravings! This traditional treat is made from flour, butter, currants, eggs, milk, cinnamon, and nutmeg and, to top it off, are dusted with sugar. There are variations of the cakes, such as Jam Split, which is literally split and filled with jam or butter.
Caw, Caw! Say cheese! Better yet, say 'Caws' because that's what the Welsh call this dairy treasure. There are many variations to sample in shops throughout Wales, including Caws Teifi or Caws Preseli, Collier's Cheese, and a South Caernarfon vintage cheddar. The popular Pont Gâr Soft Blue cheese is produced in West Wales using local milk and can be paired with mushrooms or a light wine. The best known Welsh cheese is Caerphilly, a hard, crumbly white cheese, which was first made around the early 1800s.

Bite your tongue! Or better yet, bite into an Ox tongue, one of the most peculiar of the Welsh delicacies, but apparently one of the most delicious as well. If that is a little too much culinary adventure for you, try the Welsh lamb and beef or the mutton, which is meat from sheep that can be found in a lot of casseroles and stews.
Laverbread: Don't be fooled. Laverbread isn't like a Welsh cake. It's not even like bread. It's a dish made out of laver, otherwise known as seaweed. This food is steeped in Welsh history, has been known as Welshmen's caviar and has been recorded as a breakfast for the miners back in the 1600s, along with some bacon and eggs, of course. It can be often rolled in oatmeal and fried, although laver has been put into other dishes as well. In case you're wondering, it has been described as having a salty, spinach-esque type of texture to it.
Welsh rarebit: It's known preferably as rarebit, but can also be called Welsh rabbit. It is a sauce of melted cheese and other ingredients and it's poured over things like toasted bread or cake or used as a fondue.
