In a year that is shaped by the #MeToo movement, International Women's Day has taken on added significance for many companies eager to show support.
The rise of the female adventurer has not gone unnoticed, and Exodus Travel joins several other tour operators in launching new tours for women.
The company has announced a series of female-only departures for women around the world.
"We want to connect with females from all cultures and challenge ourselves to go beyond our comfort zones while on vacation, as well as in our day to day lives," said Robin Brooks, marketing and public relations manager.
"There's a growing demand for trips that go beyond spa and yoga retreats with girlfriends-adventure and exploration is not a boys' club anymore," Brooks added. "In 2017, 65 percent of our travelers were female, and we have seen a huge increase in women looking for active adventures such as cycling, walking, trekking and responsible wildlife tours. I'm proud to say that we work hard to inspire women to take on new adventures and experience the rewards of pushing their limits."
Itineraries feature groups of between four and 16 travelers and are led by local female guides. Journeys include:
Journey to Persia
The 15-day itinerary travels to Iran where guests explore snow-clad mountains, vast deserts, attractive oasis towns and ancient sites revealing a deep history.
Cycle Nicaragua, Costa Rica & Panama
This 15-day journey starts in the colonial city of Granada and finishes in bustling Panama City, visiting rainforests, active volcanoes, Bocas del Toro, Lake Nicaragua and more.
Discover Myanmar
The 14-day Discover Myanmar trip takes visitors to the magical temples of Bagan, the Shwedagon Pagoda, the U-Bein Bridge, Kalaw Hill Station and more.
