WHY IT RATES: La Cosecha founder Jessica Wolff Huerta is curating off-the-beaten-path cultural immersions, exploring local gastronomy, stories and creativity in Mallorca. --Janeen Christoff, TravelPulse Managing Editor

In a world where "wellness" retreats are all the buzz, one growing new travel company is doing small group trips differently. After almost two decades building brands for some of the most loved names in travel, La Cosecha founder Jessica Wolff Huerta is curating off-the-beaten-path cultural immersions, exploring local gastronomy, stories and creativity in Mallorca.

Along with the increasing interest in digital detoxing and health-related escapes, today's traveler is ready to dive into other cultures-studies show that half (50%) of global travelers want to experience culture shock in 2023. Jessica shares, "I enjoy a good yoga class and actually started my career at a prominent wellness resort, so seeing these retreats trending is not a surprise. Knowing what modern travelers are seeking and that social relationships are the number one predictor of health and happiness, La Cosecha is focused on travel that immerses us into local conversations and communities, connects us to the daily rhythm of a place and to those we are traveling with."

"Collectively it seems we need a little less retreating and a lot more coming together."

They're also keen to minimize their impact, but while 90 percent of consumers look for sustainable options when traveling, 70 percent feel overwhelmed by starting the process of being a more sustainable traveler. (Sustainable Travel Study, n.d.)

"Our travelers prefer to leave the planning to us and know that their dollars are well spent with our local partners. Living in Mallorca, we see first-hand the way tourism impacts the island and are committed to influencing habits of travel here-bringing them to hidden gems, connecting them with local creatives, focusing on shoulder seasons and incorporating guided outdoor experiences. It's an approach that's receiving positive traveler and local feedback, and one we're looking forward to bringing to other destinations later this year."

Mallorca has historically attracted the European beach-going crowd, but it's also long been a magnet for a worldwide creative community, inspiring authors, painters, designers and musicians for decades. As Mallorca becomes more accessible to the US market with the first-ever, US to Palma direct flights, La Cosecha is making sure they tap into that creative community and discover Mallorcan culture beyond the beaches.
