Mexico's Secretariat of Tourism (Sectur) has kicked off a public discussion in hopes of establishing an effective tourism policy aimed at 2040, according to Reportur.mx.
Launched in collaboration with the Tourism Commission of the National Conference of Governors (Conago), public institutions and some private organizations, the forum will seek out the knowledge of experts, investors, developers, hoteliers and tourist service providers, among others.
Mexico Tourism Secretary Enrique de la Madrid Cordero said their perspectives are necessary to understand the current situation and where to go next.
"It is in our hands to have a better country, through consolidating tourism, an activity so important, generous, intensive in people and integrative, so useful to avoid isolation in the world, against some who have isolationist tendencies and who have not warned that the world has changed from the interrelation of nations," said de la Madrid via Reportur.mx.
According to de la Madrid, the forum will identify key projects designed to improve the region's infrastructure. The investments will also look to meet a strict set of requirements in terms of efficiency, economic and social profitability, competitiveness, transparency and sustainability.

"In this work of planning, the participation of those who face obstacles in the day to day, challenges to consolidate and develop destinations, tourism products in the region is fundamental," added de la Madrid.
