Online travel platform Zerve, Inc. announced on Thursday, June 30, that the company would be closing after 13 years of service to the industry.
To make it easier for companies working with Zerve following the closure, FareHarbor provided the necessary funding to keep the company afloat for another week while clients found another site to use for their online bookings, payment provider, call center and primary distribution partner.
In addition, fellow online travel platform Zozi shared a message on LinkedIn which offers to provide Zerve with the backing needed to stay open for 60 to 90 days. The hope from the funding from Zozi would be to help Zerve's tour company clients find a new home for their brands and even possibly purchase some of Zerve's assets.
Zerve was popular with tour operators who bought and sold bus and walking tours, sailing trips, yacht cruises, food and wine tasting tours, kayak trips, nightlife and party events and local activities. Several tour operators have formed a Facebook group for "Zerve Orphans" following the company's abrupt closure.
With the closure coming just before the busy Independence Day holiday weekend and toward the beginning of the summer, other online travel platforms are jumping in the mix to entice the customers left in the dark by Zerve to use their services moving forward.
