WHY IT RATES: Travel Impressions adds four new cities to their Switzerland portfolio.-Codie Richards, TravelPulse Associate Editor

As the leading tour operator selling exclusively through travel agents, Travel Impressions is responding to demand within the retail distribution channel for more diverse European experiences with an upgraded Switzerland portfolio featuring new unescorted multi-day itineraries and private transfer options.

Additionally, Travel Impressions is expanding its Switzerland product offering with the introduction of four new cities, including architecturally rich Basel, which straddles Switzerland's borders with France and Germany along the Rhine River; Italian-speaking Lugano located approximately 50 miles away from Milan in Switzerland's idyllic south; the snow-covered glaciers and lake scenery of St. Moritz; and the alpine utopia of Zermatt, which features two of Switzerland's highest peaks.

These new cities complement German-speaking Lucerne and Switzerland's capital city of Bern-both known for their fascinating and well-preserved medieval architecture-as well as the international allure of Geneva and Zurich's impressive landscapes.

"Beyond the Swiss Alps, Switzerland offers a diverse range of travel options with year-round photo-friendly vistas and an impressive dozen UNESCO World Heritage Sites," said Scott Wiseman, president of Travel Impressions.

"Switzerland shares borders with France, Italy, Austria and Germany, resulting in multiple cultural centers to explore-a key selling point for travel agents when they discuss the destination with clients," Wiseman noted.

Unescorted multi-city tour itineraries available through Travel Impressions include the three-night Glacier Express Deluxe, which travels from Zurich to the resort town of St. Moritz on the southern side of the Swiss Alps nearly 6,000 feet above sea level. From there, passengers will board the world-famous Glacier Express, taking in dramatic scenery on their thrilling panoramic journey to Zermatt.

Alternatively, Travel Impressions' three-night Bernina Express Deluxe covers Zurich and St. Moritz before boarding a narrow-gauge train through the spectacular Bernina Pass to Switzerland's border with Italy, where participants will spend their final night in Lugano.

Clients who appreciate medieval history may be interested in Exploring Switzerland from Bern; its three-night itinerary covers the city's UNESCO-classified Old Town and many architectural highlights dating back to the 12th and 13th centuries.

The tour also encompasses the city of Thun for a scenic boat excursion on majestic Lake Thun, as well as Lucerne, where travelers visit Mount Rigi. This pristine highlight of Switzerland's vast Central Plateau is strikingly surrounded by three different bodies of water.

Additionally, Travel Impressions is now offering a two-night Basel Pre-/Post-Cruise Extension, which contrasts the historic splendor of Basel's Old Town with the scenic beauty of the Rhine and modern architecture of Switzerland's third-largest city.

All multi-city tours feature four- and five-star accommodation options and are available for booking via Travel Impressions' Quest for Agents portal. Private transfer options are available in Basel, Bern, Geneva, Lucerne, Lugano and Zurich.

Travel Impressions also offers an expanded assortment of day tours where passengers can enjoy small-group excursions into the Alps off Zurich's beaten path; a diplomat-worthy experience of Geneva; foray to the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Jungfraujoch, often referred to as the "Top of Europe;" or a boat tour of Lake Lugano, ending with a cooking lesson in a restaurant at one of the lake's scenic grottos.

Visit TravelImpressions.com or log into Quest for a complete list of full- and half-day tour options in Switzerland.

As Switzerland borders several European nations, including France, Austria, Germany and Italy, Travel Impressions can seamlessly combine the country with vacations to other alluring destinations in Europe.
