While internationally known for its imaginative reinterpretations of classic Creole and Cajun cuisine, award-winning Restaurant R'evolution within Royal Sonesta New Orleans also features a superb selection of 10,000 bottles of wine from throughout the world.
Recognized by OpenTable, The Daily Meal, Thrillist, New Orleans Magazine and Eater.com, Restaurant R'evolution is one of the most unique dining experiences in all of New Orleans, a city famous for its revered, highly competitive and ever-changing food scene.
Founded in June 2012 as the first joint venture for world-renowned Chefs John Folse and Rick Tramonto's restaurant development company, Home on the Range, R'evolution evolves the food of the seven nations that formed Louisiana's culture and cuisine.
Recently celebrating its sixth anniversary, the eatery continues to make waves. Held in May, the celebrated New Orleans Wine and Food Experience brings the best in wine and food from throughout the Big Easy together for a sampling of the city's culinary mecca. This year, R'evolution's Chef de Cuisine Jana Billiot claimed NOWFE's esteemed Best of Show title in the Savory category with her Bourbon-cured salmon and white asparagus panna cotta, with zucchini basil pistou and pine nuts.
And if you need further proof, Wine Spectator recently named Restaurant R'evolution as one of the country's top nine restaurants with standout by-the-glass selections, as well as one of New Orleans' top 10 restaurants, noting its classic New Orleans ingredients. So, don't forget to order by the glass (or the bottle) while indulging on R'evolution's infamous Death by Gumbo, served with a whole, semi-boneless quail stuffed with oysters, Andouille sausage and rice.
Want to make it really special? Reserve the exclusive Wine Room, for an intimate dining experience surrounded by a stunning view of the breathtaking wine cellar. It's a favorite of many restaurant guests.
The wine program is overseen by Wine Director Steven Russett, who's award-winning in his own right. His work in the wine industry has earned him the 2008 Grand Award Winner by Wine Spectator, along with recognition as the 2011 Brand Champion for Graffigna Sales by Pernod Ricard USA. Steven also previously received a nomination for the James Beard Foundation's Excellence in Wine Service Award.
A frequent host of renowned wine dinners and events, Restaurant R'evolution recently partnered with family-owned and California-based Jordan Vineyard & Winery for a special event to reveal its 2013 vintage Jordan Melchior 18-liter bottle, as well as introduce a by-the-glass offering to feature the special edition wine.
The event included a VIP reception hosted by winery owner John Jordan, who was joined by three-time Pro Bowl defensive lineman Cam Jordan of the New Orleans Saints inside the Restaurant R'evolution courtyard. The event concluded with a special wine dinner hosted within the restaurant.
It's hard to top this selection of vino, as the wine collection continues to grow. There is always more to come, and if you're traveling to New Orleans, visit Royal Sonesta New Orleans and indulge at Restaurant R'evolution!
