New Orleans is not just a playground for adults, it is a world-class destination for families looking to create unforgettable summer memories. From cultural celebrations and live music to kid-friendly attractions and mouthwatering cuisine, the Crescent City has something for every member of the family.

Families can explore beloved attractions like the Louisiana Children's Museum, Audubon Zoo and Carousel Gardens Amusement Park, making it easy to fill days with wonder and excitement. The city even offers KreweCar, a ride share service designed specifically for families that provides car seats for children—a thoughtful touch that makes getting around town a breeze.

Summer 2026 is packed with events that give families even more reasons to visit. In June, the French Market Creole Tomato Fest kicks things off on June 6-7 with free admission, live music, food vendors and activities designed just for kids. Then on June 19, the NOLA Juneteenth Festival brings the whole family to Congo Square for African drumming and dance, live performances and delicious cuisine in honor of this important cultural celebration.

July brings a full lineup of family favorites. Go Fourth on the River on July 4 features live music at Crescent Park leading up to a spectacular fireworks display along the Historic New Orleans Riverfront. Later in the month, the X Games Championship from July 24-26 draws more than 100 of the world's top athletes competing in skateboarding, BMX and Moto X, alongside live music and fan experiences throughout the weekend. Families with kindergarteners will also appreciate the Kindergarten Kickoff on July 30, which uses hands-on activities and story time to help children prepare for their first year of school.

August wraps up the summer with two standout events. Satchmo Summerfest on August 1-2 is a free French Quarter festival celebrating the legacy of Louis Armstrong with live music and access to the New Orleans Jazz Museum. Then from August 28-30, Bluey's Big Play brings the beloved children's series to life on stage with original storytelling, new music and brilliantly crafted puppets.

New Orleans is ready for its close-up—and the whole family is invited.
