Takeoff Aborted

This was not good. Cathay Pacific Airways had to abort a takeoff in Hong Kong on a flight that was headed to Los Angeles. Eleven people were injured, although nine were discharged almost immediately from the respective hospitals.

Off-Duty Pilot Helps Land Plane

An off-duty pilot flying as a deadhead just to get to his next assignment was pressed into duty. In fact, he helped land the plane when the first officer originally on the flight deck was incapacitated.

American Matches Alaska Airlines

We told you that airlines are an incestuous business. American Airlines, in late June, announced it would launch a new route from Portland to Miami. It’s the same route that Alaska Airlines is going to fly. But American Airlines is launching its flight 12 days sooner in November of this year.
