20 New Hotels Opening in 2020

With the New Year comes fresh inspiration, new hopes and dreams, emboldened ideals and strengthened resolutions. For the travel community, 2020 also promises to deliver the end results of many dreams-made-reality, as major hotel and hospitality projects are finalized and made ready to receive their first guests, some as early as January. Here is TravelPulse's top-20 list of international high-luxury hotels slated to open within the coming year.

Positioned at the southwest corner of Leicester Square in the heart of the capital's dazzling West End, this new London landmark is being touted as a 'Super Boutique Hotel,' which is staggering in its scale, yet achieves a distinctly boutique-feel atmosphere. The Londoner will feature 350 luxurious guest rooms, including fifteen suites, each of which provides a unique and exciting view of the surrounding cityscape. Additionally, the hotel sports six levels below ground that house a series of restaurants, bars, leisure facilities, ballrooms and banquet halls and two onsite Odeon cinemas. The Londoner is scheduled to premiere in June 2020.

"A timeless hideaway in harmony with nature," the renowned Rosewood Little Dix Bay was first founded by big-name conservationist Laurance Rockefeller over half a century ago, becoming one of the first Caribbean resorts to promote sustainability in luxury vacation experiences. In January 2020, following a four-year closure, this tropical, beachside retreat relaunches, reimagined for the modern ultra-luxury traveler by New York-based design team Meyer Davis. Set on 500 acres on a half-mile of beach, the resort will offer a level of refinement unrivaled in the Caribbean and debut 80 new guest rooms, suites and villas, including Tree House Suites and One-Bedroom Pool Suites. Four distinct dining options, two pools, a state-of-the-art fitness center and A Rosewood Spa will round out the onsite offerings.

Opening May 2020 atop 380 protected acres, Miraval Berkshires will become Miraval's third full-fledged resort. The Miraval experience is about enjoying life in balance, and the resort asks guests to enter "Miraval Mode" upon arrival and embrace the brand's philosophy of mindfulness and freedom from digital distractions. Its inclusive packages are designed to bring visitors into harmony with the beautiful Berkshire County landscape and will incorporate much of the brand's signature programming, such as Shamana Karma, Naga Thai and equine encounters. Its 148 guest rooms reflect the notion of "life-enhancing minimalism" for which New York City-based designer, Clodagh, is widely known.

Belize's first Marriott International Autograph Collection property, Alaia Belize is slated to open in December 2020 on Ambergris Caye's San Pedro Town-the place immortalized by Madonna as "La Isla Bonita." A modern luxury resort community located on over 20 acres of beachfront real estate, Alaia Belize will feature a hotel as well as two- and three-bedroom condominiums and oceanfront villas available for ownership. World-class amenities include a rooftop pool terrace overlooking the breathtaking Caribbean Sea, beach club, full-service spa, fitness center, watersports club, diving center, kids' club and live art gallery.

Rosewood Hotels & Resorts' very first South American property, Rosewood São Paulo is located in the heart of the city's Cidade Matarazzo, a complex comprised of elegantly preserved twentieth-century buildings, occupying the premises of a historic hospital that was constructed in 1904. Accommodations will consist of 151 guestrooms and 114 owners' suites, situated in a vertical park created by Pritzker Prize-winning architect Jean Nouvel. Rosewood São Paulo will debut in 2020, complete with two restaurants, bar and caviar lounge, two swimming pools, a large spa and fitness area and lush hotel gardens.

Set on over seven acres in Palm Beach County's idyllic Singer Island, Amrit Ocean Resort & Residences offers a new wellness and mindfulness getaway experience, which combines Eastern traditions with Western luxury, science and modern technologies. Guests are assigned a personal wellness assistant who's available 24/7 via app, text, call or Facetime, and may partake in either group or private yoga classes, halotherapy, hydrotherapy, IV therapy, guided meditations, cooking classes, spa treatments and more during their stay. Resort programming is being curated in partnership with the Himalayan Institute, a non-profit leader in the fields of yoga, meditation, spirituality and holistic health.

Palace Elisabeth will open in 2020 as the first full-service, five-star heritage hotel in Hvar, Croatia, poised above the city's main square and offering exceptional views of the marina. Dating back to the 13th century, the palace was also rebuilt by Austrian Empress Sisi in 1899, and retains its stunning Venetian and Austrian architectural details. During the renovation, these historic design touches were also preserved throughout the now-hotel's 45 guest rooms. Palace Elisabeth will also boast an indoor swimming pool, terraces and a luxurious spa.

Nestled at the north end of Napa Valley in the picturesque, historic town of Calistoga, Four Seasons Resort and Residences Napa Valley will open Summer 2020 as the wine-making capital of North America's first-of-its-kind resort, set directly inside the grounds of a working winery. Surrounded by hundreds of acres of vineyards, framed by majestic mountains and forests, it's an oenophile's dream hideaway, complete with indulgent tasting sessions and dining in the exclusive barrel room. Guests will be invited to participate in the wine-making process, as the goal is to provide a grape-to-glass experience as part of every stay.

Sitting on a secluded coral sand beach abutting Southlands Park estate, Bermudiana Beach Resort, Tapestry Collection by Hilton, is slated to open in 2020 as the brand's first hotel in Bermuda and only its second development in the Caribbean. The 111-room resort will operate as a condo-hotel offering a host of amenities, such as a clifftop infinity pool, a family-friendly swimming pool, indulgent spa, fitness center, yoga terrace, ocean-view restaurant and bar and a private, pristine pink-sand beach made accessible via two-car funicular elevator.

Part of a multi-purpose complex on the Kingston Waterfront, which is set to include retail, entertainment and commercial office spaces, the 168-room ROK Hotel, Kingston, Tapestry Collection by Hilton will open in 2020 as a contemporary downtown hotel that offers guests easy access to the National Gallery of Jamaica and the historic center of Port Royal. Occupying a twelve-story building that originally opened in 1977 as the Oceana Hotel, the new ROK Hotel, Kingston sits on Ocean Boulevard, overlooking Kingston Harbor, and will feature an expansive first-floor pool deck, a restaurant, café, bar, lounge area and fitness center.

Opening in early 2020, Four Seasons Hotel Bangkok At Chao Phraya River stands in a coveted location in the Thai capital's creative district surrounded by galleries, boutiques, restaurants and cafés. The 299-room hotel features a stunning, cascading architectural design with seamless indoor-outdoor spaces, outdoor lap and infinity pools with sweeping river views, luxury spa and fitness center, landscaped gardens and a diverse collection of dining options.

To be unveiled in Spring 2020, The Airelles Château de Versailles, Le Grand Contrôle sits within the very grounds of the world-famous Palace of Versailles, overlooking the parterre of the Orangerie and the stretch of water known as the Pièce d'Eau des Suisses, a mere stone's throw away from the celebrated Hall of Mirrors and definitive French gardens. With just fourteen luxury rooms and suites, a signature Alain Ducasse restaurant, wellness center and indoor swimming pool, Le Grand Contrôle hotel features authentic décor, which has been carefully restored in alignment with the original spirit of the construction. Steeped in history, these premises invite guests to step back through time to the Age of Enlightenment, and the reign of Louis XVI and Marie-Antoinette.

Opening Fall 2020, Virgin Hotels Las Vegas takes over the plot formerly occupied by the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino, re-conceptualizing the property as an exciting, innovative lifestyle hotel featuring over 1,500 Chambers, Grand Chambers and Penthouse Suites outfitted with patented, ergonomically-designed beds and state-of-the-art in-room technology. Guests will doubtlessly be dazzled by Virgin Hotel Las Vegas' five-plus acres of upgraded pools and luxurious outdoor space; world-class restaurants, lounges and bars; and 60,000 square feet of fully-renovated casinos.

Set adjacent to its iconic sister property, Atlantis, The Palm (which is also set to unveil its $100-million, three-year renovation) on the crescent of Dubai's acclaimed The Palm, The Royal Atlantis Resort & Residences represents the newest generation of distinctive luxury. Opening in 2020's third quarter, the resort will offer a sophisticated lifestyle with endless ocean views, lush green spaces and dramatic, timeless architecture. The 43-story hotel will feature 795 lavish guest rooms and suites, 35 world-class restaurants, a rooftop infinity pool and a 1.5-mile stretch of private beach. Plus, access to all of the fun available at neighboring Atlantis and its unrivaled access to some of the world's most renowned chefs, all in one location.

The Hotel Drover, a Marriott Autograph Collection four-star boutique hotel, will open in late 2020 as part of a $175-million, public and private sector revamp of Fort Worth's celebrated Stockyards District, which aims to provide visitors with the epitome of an authentic cowboy-culture experience. Inspired by the pioneering spirit of the American West and named for the legendary cattle drivers who moved their herds across the plains, The Hotel Drover will offer 200 guest rooms; a 97 West Kitchen and Bar; a rustic backyard space outfitted with fire pits and walking paths; a live-music venue; 15,000 square feet of meeting space; a pool area and more.

The Italian designer luxury brand makes its Parisian debut in 2020, expanding Bvlgari Hotels and Resorts' collection to eight total properties. Situated at 30 Avenue George V, it boasts an address in one of the city's most exclusive and distinctive areas, the famous "Triangle d'Or" (Golden Triangle), where Avenue Montaigne, Avenue George V and Rue Francois 1er come together, and where the finest Haute Couture shops in the world can be found.

Designed by the Italian architectural firm Antonio Citterio Patricia Viel, and renowned Parisian architects Valode & Pistre, Bvlgari Hotel Paris will offer 76 rooms, mostly suites, an 82-foot pool, luxury spa and a Bvlgari restaurant and bar, which opens onto a charming courtyard garden.

Montage Healdsburg will debut in 2020 nestled among the ancient oak groves and vine-covered hillsides of Sonoma, California's famous wine region. The 250-acre property will house 130 bungalow-style guest rooms and suites, featuring a contemporary aesthetic and environmentally friendly design elements. With one-third of its space dedicated to outdoor living, each elegant, well-appointed guest accommodation will be immersed in its inviting natural surroundings. This magical, rustic-meets-modern hideaway will also boast an 11,500-square-foot spa and farm-to-table restaurant the blends the best of French and Californian cuisines.

Making its debut in Scotland, U.K.-based group The Red Carnation Hotel Collection will reopen this entirely reimagined and refurbished former Edinburgh private members club as a refined boutique hotel in late 2020. With an address on the city's most prominent thoroughfare, 100 Princes Street is being respectfully redone and transformed into an exclusive retreat with 30 exceptional guest rooms and an Executive Lounge with uninterrupted views of the neighboring Edinburgh Castle. For this, Red Carnation Hotels' nineteenth property worldwide, the group aims to replicate the boutique atmosphere already achieved at its Forbes Five Star-rated sister property, Hotel 41, in London.

The upcoming Pendry West Hollywood promises to furnish a fresh reason to hang out on Los Angeles' iconic Sunset Strip. With 149 luxury guest rooms and suites-plus 40 Pendry residences with full access to the hotel's supreme service, innovative programming and indulgent amenities-Pendry West Hollywood will feature interiors crafted by the acclaimed Martin Brudnizki Design Studio, rooftop pool and bar, a Spa Pendry, state-of-the-art fitness center, a bowling alley and a carefully curated public art collection. Guests will have their choice among 96 luxurious villas, ranging from one-bedroom villas to six-bedroom suite villas, which promise to impress even the most discerning guests. The 32-acre estate also encompasses a private beach with beach club, a destination spa, two specialty fine-dining restaurants and bar and a stunning outdoor sea-facing view that capitalizes on nature's splendor.
