30 New Hotels Opening in Europe in 2022

We all know it: Europe is HOT right now! And it has every reason to be so popular. From ending pandemic-era entry requirements to cruise lines returning their full fleets to service without raising prices, there are more ways to enjoy a trip to Europe than there have been these past two years. With this European summer travel boom also comes a plethora of new and beautiful hotels and resorts opening in Europe!

While this list is long, it only scratches the surface of all the properties opening this year. Continue through this slideshow to see some of the coolest hotels and resorts that have opened or are opening this year.

Opened February 2022, the Andaz Prague is a beautifully classic, European-styled hotel in what's been consistently rated as one of the most beautiful cities in Europe. Located near attractions such as the Mucha Museum and Wenceslas Square in the historic district, guests can enjoy tasteful rooms and suites, a full spa and ZEM, the restaurant's Czech bistro that recalls the splendor of European cafes during the 1920s.

A true wellness retreat just south of Lisbon, Portugal, Quinta da Comporta is a sustainable new hotel offering the simplicity needed for a distraction-free vacation. Opened earlier in March, Quinta da Comporta is a luxury hotel with a range of rooms and suites, one- or two-bedroom townhouses or three-bedroom pool villas, all designed in a modern, minimalist style with natural accents to bring the outdoors in. Its restaurant sources much of its food from its own garden and orchard, Horta, while the hotel's Oryza Spa focuses on slow living, restorative practices and more.

Located in Cashel, County Tipperary, Ireland is a boutique hotel that's steeped in Irish history: The Cashel Palace Hotel opened in March. Located in the manor built in 1728 by architect Sir Edward Lovett Pearce, who also designed Dublin's Parliament House, it offers a great accommodation option for travelers wanting to explore eastern Ireland and surround themselves with history. The hotel has 42 rooms and suites, two restaurants, a modern spa and much more.

Located an hour from historic Cagliari, the new Conrad Chia Laguna Sardinia opened this April and features private beach clubs, on-site dining, a spa, tennis court and fitness center, along with 107 rooms and suites in plenty of different styles to suit the needs for families, honeymooners or even intimate friend groups. The resort combines classical Italian design with modern-luxe furnishings and accents to bring a light, breathy atmosphere to its accommodations and public areas, while the pools and other amenities on the grounds feature gorgeous views of the Mediterranean Sea.

This new Tapestry Collection by Hilton property opened in April. Located only ten minutes from the Arc de Triomphe, Le Belgrand Hotel Paris Champs Elysees is conveniently located and features 46 guest rooms, including an accessible option and connecting room options. Featuring a lush garden patio, modern rooms and classically French public spaces, Le Belgrand Hotel Paris Champs Elysees is a perfect choice for those wanting a unique accommodation in the heart of Paris.

Opened April 2022, The Dean Galway is a design-led boutique hotel offering 100 rooms for guests in an industrial-chic style with a rooftop restaurant, gym and more. Located along the Wild Atlantic Way, it's a great choice for travelers just wanting to explore Galway or for excursionists wanting to explore some of Ireland's best-loved attractions, like the Cliffs of Moher. Part of the modern hotel incorporates the area's historic buildings, like the Galway to Clifden railway tunnel from the 1890s or a two-story building from the 1830s. In an energizing blend of old and new, The Dean is a beautiful new accommodation travelers to Galway won't want to miss.

Pavillon Faubourg Saint-Germain opened in April 2022 and is located in Paris's Saint-Germain-des-Prés neighborhood, the region where many artists and writers of the 20th century once frequented. The new hotel extends across three different buildings dating as early as 1642 and features a restaurant, 47 rooms and suites, a spa and a bar. The hotel, including its rooms and suites, feature modern furnishings with a distinctly Parisian flair.

Opened in late May, the Sea Breeze Santorini Beach Resort is a Curio Collection by Hilton property, featuring a volcanic black sand beach and stunning views of the Aegean Sea. It offers a variety of suites ranging from one-bedroom options with a private hot tub, separate living spaces and a king bed to more spacious two-bedroom suites spanning three floors for up to four guests, complete with a private pool and terrace. The hotel takes its name in stride, with ample outdoor spaces with minimalist furnishings and natural tones.

Opened earlier this year, the Club Med Magna Marbella is located near Marbella, Spain at the foot of the Sierra Blancas overlooking the Mediterranean Sea. It offers 485 rooms, two restaurants and three bars and lounges spread across 35 acres of gardens. It makes for a great all-inclusive accommodation option for families, groups or couples wanting to explore Andalusia.

Recently opened earlier this year is the new Inhabit Queen's Gardens, located in Bayswater, London. With a spa, fitness center and meat-free restaurant, this boutique hotel offers plenty of amenities, including 158 rooms featuring in-room aromatherapy, a library and partnerships with 100 local social enterprises and small businesses to promote wellbeing across the board. Scandinavian and minimalist Eastern design elements combine with British architecture to bring this beautiful boutique to life.

The Stay Boulevard Nisantasi is a new hotel located in Istanbul. As part of the country's first carbon-neutral independent hotel group, the new hotel abides by strict environmental and sustainability standards. The Stay Hotels will also become waste-free by the end of 2022. The new hotel features 82 rooms and suites, including ones with kitchenettes terraces and walk-in closets for longer stays, as well as a spa, rooftop Italian restaurant and patisserie.

ACRO Suites is a newly opened luxury boutique wellness resort in Crete. It features six different accommodation options including villas, a restaurant, a traditional Hammam and a yoga center, all designed in an organic, modern and natural style. Besides enjoying the stunning rocky coastline, the nearby beach and the wellness offerings available at the resort, guests can enjoy close proximity to Heraklion, just a 20-minute drive from the resort.

An architectural dream, the Isla Brown Corinthia is a resort 45 minutes away from Athens in Agioi Theodoroi, Corinthia, located along the Saronic Gulf. With 166 rooms and suites, it's a beautifully modern property boasting several restaurants, a beautiful pool overlooking the sea, a fitness center and a sanctuary-like spa. In July, it'll also debut an adults-only rooftop area, featuring another pool and a terrace with fire pits and a bar.

The latest Virgin Hotels property is now open! Virgin Hotels Edinburgh celebrated a soft opening on June 1 with a full opening this fall, located in the city's historic India Buildings. It features 222 rooms and suites, along with several dining and drinking options. A rooftop space enjoys views of the Edinburgh Castle, while the property's 19th-century Greyfriars Hall serves as a special events space.

Located in Montepulciano in the renowned Tuscany region of Italy is a new hotel opening this summer: Borgo San Vincenzo. Located in a historic borgo dating back to 1780, the restored building exudes Tuscan warmth and energy. The hotel aims to connect travelers with the best of local Tuscany, including cooking classes run by locals, wine tours and more. The hotel features a pool, restaurant and breathtaking views of the surrounding countryside from its 21 rooms and suites, which all have kitchenettes. Plus, depending on the season in which you stay there, rates could be as low as 275 euros!

The first Nobu hotel in Greece, Nobu Hotel Santorini will open this July 1. The ultra-modern hotel offers 20 rooms and suites, as well as five pool villas. Only ten minutes from Oia and twenty from the Santorini airport, Nobu Hotel Santorini is a great choice for travelers wanting a modern stay on the ancient island. It also features incredible views of the Aegean Sea, a full spa, infinity pool and restaurant.

This beachfront resort is a Destination by Hyatt property opening this summer, just a short drive away from Olbia, Sardinia. Located along a stunning natural coastline and featuring 15 hectares of gardens, a spa, three restaurants, three bars and a private yacht club and pier, the 7Pines Resort Sardinia is a perfect luxury choice. It will offer 76 rooms and suites across three different regions of the property: the Laguna, the Gardens and the Sea Views.

Another summer debut for Nobu Hotels is Nobu Hotel Roma, the first for the brand in Italy. Located in Rome along the Via Veneto, it's only a short walk to iconic landmarks like the Trevi Fountain and Villa Borghese. The hotel comprises two 19th-century buildings to feature 122 guest rooms and suites, a Nobu Restaurant, club lounge, rooftop terrace and an eco-friendly approach.

Opening this June, Cullinan Belek is a new 5-star all-inclusive resort located in Antalya, Turkey, along the Mediterranean Sea. With its own private beach, thirteen pools, 36-hole golf course, waterpark, kids clubs and ten dining options, it's a great choice for travelers who love resorts and all-inclusives. The resort boasts 600 rooms, including 10 private villas, swim-up options and more.

Opening June 23 is the boutique Hotel Cahkal, located 400 kilometers above the Arctic Circle in Kilpisjärvi, Lappland, Finland. For adventure lovers and Arctic explorers, this boutique is a great choice for travelers wanting to immerse themselves in a harsh landscape without escaping modern comforts. With only 23 rooms in five different categories, this intimate hotel includes buyout options, floor-to-ceiling views of the stunning Arctic landscape, a restaurant and lounge, as well as excursion options.

Opening July 1, 2022, is The First Musica, part of The Pavilions Hotels & Resorts. Overlooking the River Tiber in Rome, it features a stunning modern design and a rooftop terrace facing some of the most iconic attractions in Rome. Guests can enjoy the on-site spa and wellness center, indoor pool, rooftop restaurant and 24 rooms and suites just a short walk from St. Peter's Basilica.

Located in Leicester but with a decidedly American, New York industrial flair, the Hotel Brooklyn Leicester is expected to open July 4, 2022. Located near the Wexford Road Stadium, the hotel will feature 191 rooms, a restaurant called The Lair, event spaces and more. What's special about this hotel is that it features 10 fully accessible and six ambulant-accessible rooms designed by SquidInc and Motionspot, the U.K.'s leading accessible design company, making it an easy choice for travelers with disabilities.

Opening in July, the new Cosmopolita Hotel Rome is another Tapestry Collection by Hilton property on this list. It's perfectly located in the heart of Rome, only fifteen minutes by foot to iconic landmarks like the Trevi Fountain and the Colosseum. The boutique hotel features connecting room options for larger families or groups, as well as a pet-friendly policy. While public spaces are colorfully Italian, the hotel's accommodations are modern and neutral in style.

Part of The Unbound Collection by Hyatt, Magma Resort Santorini will open September 1, 2022 as a luxury resort on the volcanic island of Santorini. Featuring views of the Aegean Sea and surrounded by beautiful vineyards, the resort features 59 rooms and suites with verandas, private pools and more, all designed in natural neutrals with modern touches. An outdoor infinity pool overlooks the sea, while its restaurant, Magma by Spondi, is spearheaded by a two-starred Michelin chef.

Opening September 1, 2022, the newest 5-star Thompson hotel will be located in the heart of historic, cultured Madrid. The Thompson Madrid is a ten-story hotel spanning two historic buildings along the Calle de la Montera. With three restaurants, a wide selection of rooms and suites including one two-story penthouse, pool and more, the Thompson Madrid is a wonderfully luxurious city escape that makes for a great base from where an exploration of Madrid's culture begins.

Opening in September, Sommerro is located in Oslo's Frogner neighborhood. The Art Deco hotel is set within a historic building from the 1930s and is Norway's largest preservation project. The hotel will feature 231 rooms, including 56 residences, four restaurants, three bars, a 100-seat theater, spa and Oslo's first year-round rooftop pool, sauna, terrace and restaurant. It's part of Preferred Hotels & Resorts.

The first Six Senses property in Italy is the up-and-coming Six Senses Rome at the Piazza di San Marcello, which is slated to open this fall. The hotel features a garden courtyard, rooftop terrace, spa, restaurant and 95 luxurious rooms and suites in a neutral, modern design. The Six Senses Rome is located within the 18th-century Palazzo Salviati Cesi Mellini, which has been restored and modernized as a UNESCO-listed historic landmark.

With an aim at showcasing true Portuguese culture through literature, gastronomy, wines and hospitality, the second Wine & Books Hotel, located in the beautiful city of Porto, is opening later this year. With a boutique atmosphere and located in neighborhoods you'll love to explore, the Wine & Books Hotel Porto will offer a perfect place to relax after a day of exploration: it will feature several different room categories, a wine bar, restaurant, spa and of course, a curated collection of experiences to help guests enjoy their stay.

Focusing on wellbeing and luxury is the new La Zambra, part of The Unbound Collection by Hyatt. Located in Costa del Sol in Spain, this resort offers beautiful natural surroundings, a host of well-being experiences to enjoy, five dining options and more, all surrounded in beautifully minimalist styles and colors. La Zambra will feature 197 superior rooms, junior suites and suite options, some with private garden patios and private pools. La Zambra opens in late 2022.

Red Carnation Hotels' first-ever hotel in Scotland recently changed its opening date to early 2023, located in a historic building in Edinburgh: 100 Princes Street. The address boasts over 150 years of history, first as a private home, then as two different hotels before becoming the headquarters of the Royal Over-Seas League, becoming the location of the city's first mixed club and entertaining well-known explorers. The boutique hotel will feature a beautifully restored interior, 30 luxurious rooms and suites, stunning views of Edinburgh Castle and the Explorer's Club, and a restaurant and lounge experience.
