One lucky baby born this May is set to have enviable frequent flier credentials before they ever take their first flight.
That’s because American Airlines is giving away 100,000 AAdvantage miles to the first baby born on May 1, which is Frequent Flier Day.
May 1 is also the birthdate for American’s AAdvantage loyalty program, which is heading into its 44th year, giving the airline plenty of reason to celebrate.
To enter the giveaway, new parents whose baby arrives on May 1 should post a photo of their newborn on X with the baby’s exact time of birth, including the time zone. In the post, parents should tag their airline’s official handle, @AmericanAir, and include the hashtags #AAdvantage, #FrequentFlyerDay and #promotion.
The baby with the earliest birth time among the entrants will be awarded the 100,000 miles to their own AAdvantage account. Parents with the winning newborn will need to open an account in their child’s name in order to receive the prize.
“Before even taking their first step, the first baby born on Frequent Flyer Day is ready to travel the world with the gift of 100,000 AAdvantage® miles,” said Scott Long, American’s SVP of AAdvantage. “We are excited to expand our AAdvantage® family with the addition of this little one into our program as we celebrate the millions of members making a lifetime of family memories with American across the world.”
It’s always a good idea for parents to start a frequent flier account for their children, even if they’re not born on May 1. Babies and young children can start accruing miles the moment they start flying in their own seat on family trips.
