One of the most popular American Airlines airport lounges is getting an upgrade.
The carrier just announced it will be renovating and expanding the Admirals Club in Concourse D at Washington, D.C.’s Ronald Reagan National Airport (DCA).
Construction is set to begin in early 2026, and travelers will still have access to the airline’s clubs in Concourse C and E at DCA during the renovation.
When the project is completed, the refreshed lounge will measure more than 10,000 square feet and offer 50% more seating for travelers to work, dine, and relax before boarding their flight. Travelers can also expect to see design details influenced by Washington, D.C., as well as airside views of the city’s iconic sites like the U.S. Capitol building and the Washington Monument.
“We’re proud to serve the Washington, D.C. market, and it’s essential that we have the lounge footprint to support all of our customers in this important hub,” said Heather Garboden, American’s chief customer officer. “The redesigned Admirals Club® lounge will provide ample seating, an upscale design and elevated amenities that reflect the premium experience our customers deserve.”
The upgraded DCA club is part of a larger initiative at American Airlines to enhance the customer experience and add more premium products, both in the sky and on the ground. Expanding the airline’s lounge network is a key part of its push to offer more premium experiences.
In addition to the refreshed club at DCA, American is planning to start construction on new Flagship lounges in Charlotte and Miami in 2026.
“I think you’ll see us continue to have a really good steady stream of exciting lounge announcements over the next year, I would say,” Garboden said in early December at the Skift Aviation Forum.
