The largest airline in the United States is spiffing up its home hub airport with sweeping new premium areas.
American Airlines has unveiled plans for two new lounges plus a premium check-in area at its base at Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport (DFW).
Later this year, travelers flying in American’s Flagship First cabin will have access to a dedicated Flagship check-in area for the first time at DFW near the D30 security checkpoint.
The new premium check-in experience will offer an elevated and private experience, with an upscale atmosphere, individual assistance from the airline’s customer service agents, and easy access to security screening.
The airline operates Flagship check-in areas around the world, but this will be the first time the service is available at American’s home hub.
"We're investing in every stage of the premium travel journey at DFW, beginning the moment customers arrive at the airport," said American’s Chief Customer Officer Heather Garboden. "Our Flagship® check-in experience offers a more tailored and streamlined start to the journey, bringing together dedicated service, premium amenities and greater convenience for our most loyal and premium customers."
American also unveiled plans for two additional lounges at DFW. The carrier will build a massive new Admirals Club near DFW’s Terminal C Skylink station. When it opens, the space will measure 37,000 square feet and will be the largest Admirals Club in the airline’s lounge network.
In DFW’s future Terminal F, American plans to open the latest outpost of its newest lounge concept, Provisions by Admirals Club. The grab-and-go lounge is designed for travelers with tight connections and offers hearty meals, snacks, and beverages that can be taken with travelers to their gates.
The airline says the Provisions location is just the first of several new premium spaces it has planned for DFW’s new Terminal F.
The new areas come as American is making significant investments in premium products both onboard its planes and on the ground at its network of airports. The improvements have been especially notable at DFW, where the carrier has also launched electronic boarding gates for smoother passenger departures.
“We’re making significant investments in the future of our largest hub at DFW, with our customers at the heart of every decision,” said American’s Senior Vice President of DFW Operations Jim Moses. “From major expansions to transformative enhancements, we’re making travel through DFW even more seamless, comfortable and convenient.”
