Football fans will now have access to extra airlift if they plan to head to the biggest game of the year, thanks to Delta Air Lines.
The carrier has announced a lineup of special early February flights to the San Francisco Bay Area from Boston and Seattle, the two cities facing off in this year’s Super Bowl.
The Super Bowl will take place on February 8 at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California, just outside San Francisco, where the Seattle Seahawks and New England Patriots will square off for the championship title.
“From additional departure options to multiple Bay Area gateways, Delta’s expanded schedule builds off our existing robust domestic network that is designed to meet increased demand and keep customers moving forward,” said Amy Martin, Delta’s vice president – network planning.
Starting February 6, the airline will add one extra daily nonstop flight between Boston (BOS) and San Francisco (SFO) for a total of three daily flights. On the return leg, Delta will operate a total of four flights back to the East Coast hub on February 9.
For Seattle Seahawks fans, Delta will operate five flights per day between Seattle (SEA) and San Francisco (SFO). The carrier will also add an extra return flight back to Seattle on February 9, bringing the total to six flights available that day.
Delta has existing service of four daily flights between Seattle to San Jose, California (SJC), which is even closer to the stadium in Santa Clara.
Additionally, Delta says it will expand access to San Jose across its network with special nonstop flights from New York JFK to SJC on February 6, allowing customers across the country to book connections to the big game. A return service will operate on February 9. The carrier will use its Airbus A321neo plane on the special route ensuring football fans have the option for a premium onboard experience.
For travelers planning to be in the air after Super Bowl kickoff, Delta has you covered: the airline will livestream the game to its seatback screens so fans don’t have to miss out mid-flight.
