Delta Air Lines will be expanding its flight schedule to China later this year as the United States and China seek to double the number of flights offered between the two countries by both Chinese and American air carriers.
Delta will begin offering 10 weekly flights from Seattle and Detroit to Shanghai-Pudong International Airport (PVG) beginning October 29. Later in March 2024, the airline will expand service to PVG from Los Angeles four times each week, a route that hasn’t been operated since before the pandemic.
Travelers flying with the airline can also take advantage of its codeshare partnership with China Eastern Airlines, which together operate 260 flights each week to destinations outside of Shanghai.
“As demand continues to increase and the busy travel season to the Asia-Pacific region commences, the Delta team is ready to welcome even more travelers to the region this winter, providing our award-winning customer service on every journey,” said Jeff Moomaw, Delta Vice President - Asia Pacific.
The news comes directly following the August 15 announcement by the Biden Administration and the U.S. Department of Transportation that the two countries will increase flights between the two countries as China continues to expand international travel and tourism following the end of its strict pandemic-era travel restrictions.
