The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) was forced to
temporarily ground all JetBlue flights on Tuesday morning due to an internal computer
system outage.
According to The
Associated Press, JetBlue discovered a technical issue and contacted the
FAA at around 12:35 a.m. ET to stop all of its flights while it assessed and
remedied the problem.
The FAA’s ground stop lasted around an hour before flights
were allowed to resume at 1:30 a.m. ET. While no JetBlue flights were permitted
to take off, the airline’s planes already flying were permitted to continue to
their destinations.
“A brief system outage has been resolved and we have resumed
operations,” a JetBlue spokesperson said in a statement.
As for the impact on Tuesday morning travel, passengers
flying with JetBlue from John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York City
and Boston Logan International Airport have been advised to check their flight
status before heading to the airport.
While some “minor residual delays are expected throughout
the day as the airline works to reposition aircraft and crews,” according to
AirLive.net, there are no major disruptions being reported by FlightAware.com.
